Frequenty, I find myself contemplating an observation attributed to Pablo Picasso.
We produce little which is truly original during our first ten years or so as an artist.
And then, spend the rest of our careers persueing those early visions, imaginings,
inspirations,and perceptions which drove us to this magical and insane profession;
but for which we had not yet developed the talent and craft to execute.
For this artist, at least, the observation rings true.
However, in a thousand years, I could never catch up with the ever evolving
excitement, visions, and perceptions I yearn to express.
I view each work as a part of the development toward an undefined end, regardless
of it's success or failure. It is the journey which is mandatory.
And when a piece succeeds / when it speaks to the viewer / my courage is renewed.
